Aug 25,  · I interviewed both Clark Terry and Oscar Peterson during my career as a jazz journalist and broadcaster. "Mumbles" and "Incoherent Blues" were actually recorded after the session was completed for his private use. When Terry began singing "Mumbles" the trio fell out laughing, according to its composer/5().

Some guest soloists get overshadowed by Oscar Peterson's technical prowess, while others meet him halfway with fireworks of their own; trumpeter Clark Terry lands in the latter camp on this fine session. With drummer Ed Thigpen and bassist Ray Brown providing solid support, the two soloists come off as intimate friends over the course of the album's ten ballad and blues 10/

Suffice to say, this album is a treat and delight to listen to from beginning to end, and am also a new fan of Clark Terry. Anyone who is joined by, or joins with, the Oscar Peterson Trio has they're game lifted to another stratosphere. Yes, this is one to add to your collection if you're like me, a relative newcomer to the jazz scene/5(66).

13x12,4x0,8cm. CD.

When the contract with Verve was terminated at the beginning of , Mercury’s producers and owners endeavoured to find new openings for Oscar Peterson who was committed to the piano trio. Among them was an LP of songs with Nat King Cole numbers scored for big band, the only long composition by Peterson - a reminiscence of his Canadian native country, a Latin album, .
